South Hams Habitat Bank

South Hams Habitat Bank

LPA:

South Hams

NCA:

South Devon

Bank description

This exciting habitat bank sees a mosaic of habitats with pockets of differing types of scrub providing stepping stones within rolling meadows. At the valley floor the landscape turns into a floodplain wetland mosaic with an enhanced watercourse running through it. With a combination of mighty old oaks, mature hedges and plenty of new supplementary planting this habitat bank will offer a safe haven to the wildlife of south Devon. However, perhaps the most exciting part of this habitat bank is that a lot of the on-going management will be done through conservation grazing where small numbers of hardy cattle will browse and graze the ever changing vegetation. This bank is live on the national register (BGS-170725002) and able to provide units today.
